ANR 2011 "Subduction: standard and slow seismology"

The proposal has the objectives to better understand how earthquakes start and slip with two target data: one related to the Maule earthquake of 27 February 2010 and the 2009-2011 slow event in the Guerrero gap in Mexico.

Therefore, there are methodological investigations on physical rupture processes at two different time scales. These investigations are not tied to the applications we expect for the two events and questions about the friction law, the damage zone and the stress state will be investigated numerically.

Data organization for the Maule quake will be performed for rupture inversion. Application of dynamic rupture inversion using a finite difference modeling and the neighbourhood algorithm will investigated while improved modeling coming from physical modeling investigation will be smoothly introduced in the inversion scheme.

Data organization for the Guerrero event will be performed for rupture inversion. Application of kinematic rupture inversion using dislocation modeling and linearized inversion scheme will be our starting initiative while improved modeling coming from physical modeling investigation will be smoothly introduced in the inversion scheme.
